We recommend the following walks because walking is such a great way to get to know a place:
The Sydney Harbour Bridge walk is 1149m long. At one end of the bridge you can explore Sydney's historical Rocks area while at the other end there is the 'village' of Kirribilli and Luna Park. Check out our Instagram account to see a video we took of Sydney Harbour from the Bridge. The Anzac Bridge walk is 805m long. The Anzac Bridge connects the Pyrmont precinct with the Balmain peninsula. At the Pyrmont end of the bridge you will find Sydney's fish market (a great place to eat fresh seafood) and at the other end of the bridge is a short walk to the 'village' of Balmain full of shopping, restaurants, bars and character. Our Instagram account shows one of two memorial sculptures by Alan Sommerville which you will see on the Anzac Bridge. The Epic Sydney Harbour Foreshore Walk is 11km long. This is a long walk which could be done over a few days. As the name suggests, this is a harbour side walk so expect to take lots of photos of Sydney Harbour foreshore. The walk starts at Woolloomooloo wharf and passes by the NSW Art Gallery, The Royal Botanical Gardens, The Sydney Opera House, the historic Rocks precinct, Walsh Bay Wharves before finishing at the newly built Barangaroo precinct. Check out our Instagram account for photos of some highlights. Surry Hills If you are staying at our Surry Hills property we recommend a stroll through urban Surry Hills. Enjoy the architecture, shopping, restaurants, cafes, bars and street art that make up this unique and vibrant suburb. Surry Hills is a 15/20 minute walk away from Sydney's CBD. Balmain If you are staying at our Balmain property you might like to walk the Tom Uren Trail which takes in most of Balmain East. We also recommend a walk and a picnic at either Ballast Point Park or Elkington Park. And the Historic Dawn Fraser Pool, near Elkington Park, is a great harbour swimming pool. Balmain is serviced by ferries and buses. The ferries are a great way of enjoying Sydney Harbour. Swimming Pools For Surry Hills guests the nearest public swimming pool is at Cook + Phillip Park @cookphillipparkpool . This is an indoor swimming pool. Alternately, there is the Andrew (Boy) Charlton pool near the NSW Art Gallery @andrewboycharltonsydney. This is a public open air harbour-side pool. For Balmain guests the nearest public swimming pool is the historic Dawn Fraser Baths @innerwestcouncil. This is an open air harbour-side pool. Please check pool opening times. Beaches Sydney is famous for its beaches. The following suggestions are full day excursions. Take the bus to Bondi Beach: do some people watching; have a swim; walk the coastal trail between Bondi and Tamarama; have something to eat; do some shopping and take the bus back. Take a bus to Palm Beach: see where the TV show 'Home and Away is filmed; walk up to the lighthouse; swim at the beach; have lunch at one of the cafes and do a day trip to Ettalong by ferry. Take the ferry to Manly Beach: walk through the Corso to the beach; have a swim; walk the length of this very long beach; have some fish n chips and take the ferry back. Comments are closed.
